  • Everyday People Explore the Kent County Landfill and Recycling Center 4/24

Did you know that in 2015, Kent County produced over 1 billion pounds of trash, the equivalent of filling the University of Michigan's Big House stadium twice over? Curious about what happens to our trash after it's collected from our bins or what our county is doing to address concerns around waste and sustainability?

Join us for a field trip to tour the South Kent Landfill and Kent County Recycling Center. During the field trip we'll take a bus tour of the landfill and take a walk through a sorting facility designed to accept recyclable materials from residents all over West Michigan.

Bring your questions and curiosities! Please see below for additional information.
