Accounting Manager

We are the public community behavioral health organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse disorder, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to manage the day-to-day functions/oversight of the accounting unit, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, treasury functions, budgeting, financial reporting, accounting software technical support and internal and external financial compliance.
This is a regularly scheduled position, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. Occasional weekends and/or holidays may be expected based on the cyclical nature of accounting work. A flexible hybrid working arrangement is available for this position. The employee may perform work from a home office or work site during regular business hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
Five years of related work experience; three years supervisory experience
Advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, email, and financial software packages
Knowledge of the application of accounting principles as they apply to maintaining financial control and accounting records
Knowledge of management principles and administrative techniques
Knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting principles and procedures
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, methods and terminology
Ability to prepare financial statements and analyze and interpret financial data
Ability to detect discrepancies in financial and accounting records
Ability to present financial data in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical users
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in an effective and efficient manner
Ability to work independently and use judgment to make decisions
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent problem-solving techniques
Ability to have a broad perspective as well as understand details
Ability to manage stress and an ever-changing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
Knowledge of the Michigan Community Mental Health system
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities preferred
Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued
