The City of Wyoming is seeking applicants for the Principal Planner position in our Planning and Economic Development Department. This position will work closely with the Director on the implementation of the city’s new master plan, Wyoming [re]Imagined, as well as support the day to day planning operations of the city. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals and is responsible for facilitating meetings. Upcoming projects include serving as lead in the development of a sub area plan.
Responsibilities include: researching, analyzing, and preparing comprehensive reports; delivering presentations at meetings involving planning and zoning; assisting in the execution of community and economic development projects; working with a diverse group of internal and external contacts at various levels of organizations; and ensuring work is completed in accordance with laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures.
We are looking for experienced candidates who are innovative and critical thinkers. Our ideal candidate has seven years of progressively responsible work in the public or private sector related to city planning, zoning, and economic and community development. A master’s degree and AICP certification is highly desired.
