RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide classroom and clinical instruction in the Certified Nurse Aide program based on the Michigan Nurse Aide Training Curriculum Model, documenting student learning, and providing additional tutoring to students as needed.
- Responsible for instruction and skill demonstration in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting and facilitating student learning and success.
- Provide instruction in professionalism skills and workplace readiness as requested.
- Provide instruction in CNA Specialty programs, including Geriatrics Specialty, Advanced CNA, Restorative Specialty, and Dementia Specialty as requested.
- Responsible for curriculum development, student advising, community service, and student recruitment activities.
- Prepare course section syllabi, grade student work, and submit grades per college policy.
- Ensures state of Michigan licensure is up to date and all documentation and program details align with LARA requirements.
- Is onsite and available during 100% of the clinical teaching time.
- Is onsite and available during 100% of the classroom and laboratory time.
- Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices.
- Accurately records students’ daily attendance.
- Follows and enforces Student Guidelines.
- Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times.
- Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair.
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the program's performance.
- Enforce program policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provides instructional and curriculum oversight for part-time CNA instruction in other training locations.
- Instructors must qualify as stated below. Any exception will be reviewed on an individual basis and must be approved by the Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree of Nursing
- A current/active Michigan Registered Nurse license that is in good standing
- A minimum of 2 years (4,000 hrs) of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services (federally certified CMS facility-state licensed long-term care)
- Required Documents: A letter from a long-term care facility or facilities verifying at least 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of nursing experience in a long-term care facility
- Note: Acceptable signatures on the letter(s) includes Facility Administrator or Director of Nursing only (letter(s) must be on letterhead)
- Michigan Nurse Aide Trainer Certificate that is in good standing (preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
- Must demonstrate characteristics including patience, compassion, good problem-solving ability and commitment to students
- Must have a flexible attitude and the ability to work a dynamic schedule
- Availability to teach at any of our locations during the daytime, evening or weekend in order to maximize enrollment and meet the needs of our diverse student population.
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
- Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Ability to lift classroom materials, etc., up to 50 lbs.
